Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga

 Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (sacred shrines of Lord Shiva) in India. It is located in the Sahyadri hills of the Western Ghats near Pune, Maharashtra. The temple is a significant pilgrimage site and holds immense religious importance among devotees of Lord Shiva. 1. Mythological Significance: Bhimashankar is associated with the legend of Lord Shiva defeating the demon Bhima, the son of Kumbhakarna (brother of Ravana). Bhima performed intense penance to gain power and started harassing sages and gods. To protect his devotees, Lord Shiva appeared and vanquished Bhima. The place where Shiva manifested his divine light (Jyotirlinga) came to be known as Bhimashankar. 2.
